Welcome to the U.S. 41 (S.R. 45) project web site. The Florida Department of Transportation, District One, in coordination with the Charlotte County-Punta Gorda Metropolitan Planning Organization and the Sarasota/Manatee Metropolitan Planning Organization, looks forward to improving U.S. 41 (S.R. 45) along the project limits.

The project will consist of performing a Project Development and Environment (PD&E) study along U.S. 41 (S.R. 45) from Enterprise Drive to Sumter Boulevard. This evaluation is necessary due to the ongoing urbanization and growth in this area, which requires action to improve and maintain safe and efficient transportation measures.

This study is necessary to determine all viable alternatives and alignments for widening the existing roadway from 4 to 6 lanes. Additional safety improvements will also be studied.
